Learning French - the FUN way!

We did something WILD today. We threw things at our SmartBoard!! The kids loved playing this vocabulary-practice game that involved throwing plastic balls at our white board. If they hit their target, a colourful SPLAT disappeared and they would have to name the vocabulary in French. This is one of many games we’ll play to practice the new words that we learn each month.

I have included the video of our new sentences and vocabulary below.  Feel free to listen to them and have your child repeat after me to practice their French.  All videos that I post will also be 'stored' in one place.  If you click on the 'Songs and Videos' tag on the right side of the blog, you will find a page that holds all of the tools that we are using to learn French in the classroom.

Please meet Monsieur Dénis. He is an educational assistant in the school and a big part of his job is doing math support. He spends a lot of time playing math games with the kindergarten and grade 1 students (individually and in small groups). 

DOT DAY!

We had so many polka-dotted cuties at school yesterday!!

We started by reading The Dot and recognizing how one little mark can turn into amazing things. We celebrated by using many kinds of mediums to create beautiful art.

Peek at our Day

Today we met Mme Pamela - Bannatyne's School Counselor.

We also prepared for our Dot Day tomorrow by watching the following video.  Tomorrow we will read it in French and do all sorts of fun activities to celebrate the powerful message.

Second and Third Day Pics

We have been so busy in kindergarten this week! Each day brings new adventures.

 

We toured the school and met all sorts of nice teachers that work in the building.

We went out for our first ’recess’ and the kids did such an amazing job following the rules that I am predicting that we will be going out with the big kids sooner than I had planned.

We created name rainbows to practice the letters in our names. We do beautiful work!
